The candidate for this position will be member of the team responsible for developing viral safety testing strategy for biologics. As a team member the candidate will contribute to the design and development of the testing strategy for raw materials, cell line characterization and unprocessed bulk to current industry standards and/or best practices. The candidate will provide technical review of test reports, test methods and resolve issues with external testing laboratories. Candidate may also manage direct reports. Knowledge of cell and gene therapy manufacturing and testing preferred. The candidate is expected to work in a team environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timeline and objectives. Responsibilities also include maintaining an awareness of current issues in adventitious virus testing for biopharmaceuticals, supporting quality events, and contributing to technology transfer to collaboration partners.
The position requires expertise in virology and viral safety, including familiarity with classical cell culture, nucleic acid testing methods and viral detection systems as the position may require experimentation in the laboratory. The candidate may act as a mentor, advisor and technical subject matter expert to others in the company.
